Shipping calculator
A shipping calculator should not invent a fake postage number. This tool estimates billable weight from actual weight and dimensional weight — the input carriers use — then sends you to live USPS and UPS quotes in Oshippy.
Estimate billable shipping weight
This calculator does not invent carrier prices. It shows how actual weight and dimensional weight usually combine so you know what to compare. Live USPS and UPS postage depends on origin, destination, service, and packaging.
- Actual weight
- 2.00 lb
- Dimensional weight
- 3 lb
- Likely billable weight
- 3.00 lb
This box is at or under 1 cubic foot. USPS often prices many services on actual weight until a package is larger than that — still confirm with live rates.
What this shipping cost calculator does
Postage is a function of origin, destination, service, extras, and billable weight. Billable weight is usually the greater of actual packed weight and dimensional (DIM) weight. This page computes that planning number. It does not scrape or guess a dollar amount.
How to use it
- Enter packed pounds and ounces — item plus box plus padding.
- Enter outer length, width, and height in inches.
- Pick a DIM divisor (USPS commonly 166; UPS daily rates often 139).
- Read the likely billable weight.
- Compare live rates in Oshippy with those same numbers.
When the dollar amount still surprises you
- Remote or long-zone destinations.
- Oversize extra charges if a side is very long.
- You selected Priority or Air when Ground would do.
- The box is larger than you typed.
Need only DIM? Open the dimensional weight calculator. Need only ounces math? Use the package weight calculator.
